🧨 Lead Story

Arizona Outfitter Sentenced for Illegal Multistate Hunts 🚨

Timothy Rawlings, 56, of Laveen, AZ, has been sentenced to 12 months in federal prison for running an illegal guiding operation across Colorado.
👉 Colorado Parks & Wildlife release

Prosecutors say Rawlings violated the Lacey Act, chasing animals with vehicles, guiding hunts without permits, and failing to register big game.
He’ll serve a year behind bars, three years’ supervised release, and pay $45,800 in restitution.
👉 DOJ announcement

His co-defendant Howard Rodarmel received probation and a fine — but the message is clear: guides aren’t above the law.
This case has become a flashpoint in the ethics conversation across the West.

What to watch:
• Will other states tighten outfitter licensing?
• Could federal prosecutions become the new norm?
• Does this restore trust or fuel more skepticism about the industry?

Bottom line — integrity is the new currency in guiding. Lose that, and you’re bankrupt.

🐺 Meanwhile in Wyoming … “The Wolf, the Bar, and the Backlash”

Earlier this year, a Sublette County man allegedly ran down a wolf with a snowmobile, taped its muzzle shut, and paraded it into the Green River Bar in Daniel before killing it behind the building.
👉 The Guardian coverage

Originally fined just $250 for illegal possession, he’s now been indicted on felony animal cruelty charges carrying up to two years in prison and $5,000 in fines.
👉 Washington Post update

Two cases. Two very different crimes. But the same question rings out — where’s the line between tough hunting and lawless cruelty?
